Our Services
Hippotherapy

The principal
of hippotherapy involves using the movement of the horse to stimulate
the vestibular and proprioceptive systems (helping sensory integration),
while simultaneously increasing verbalization and social interaction.
The horse is used as a tool to normalize tone, balance, coordination,
strength and gait in students. It is a different approach from conventional
therapy, which helps motivate the child so they can achieve their individual
goals. Hippotherapy facilitates language processing and speech production.
Our occupational therapists, speech therapists, and physical therapists
are trained in classic hippotherapy principles by the American Hippotherapy
Association (AHA) (www.americanhippotherapyassociation.org). Horse Talk, a division of GASLC, proudly offers hippotherapy
at Green Acres Equestrian Center in Woodstock (Cherokee county). Go to www.pathintl.org or www.greenacresonline.com/hippotherapy.html for more information.
